Terms of Service
Current as of August 2026. We may update these terms; the latest version always lives on this page.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a contract between you and R.J. Duffy, an individual doing business as Thirty Straight ("Thirty Straight," "we," "us"). They govern your use of thirtystraight.com (the "Site") and Thirty Straight advice sessions (the "Service").
By using the Site or starting a session, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Session Agreement. If you don't agree, don't use the Service. If these Terms and the Session Agreement ever conflict about a purchased session specifically, the Session Agreement wins.
2. Who Can Use It
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a contract to use the Service. The Service is not for minors.
Thirty Straight is built for men. The voice, format, and examples are designed with men roughly 25–50 in mind. That's an honest description of who the Service is for, not a legal restriction we enforce at the door.
3. What the Service Is — It's an AI
Thirty Straight is a structured, 30-minute advice session powered by artificial intelligence. When you use the Service, you are conversing with an AI system — not with a human being. The Service is honest about this everywhere, and the AI will confirm it if you ask.
The Service covers practical topics: career, money, dating, discipline, and decisions. It offers advice, strategy, and accountability, and a full session ends with a written plan. What you do with that advice is your call, and the outcomes of your decisions are your responsibility.
Scope. Thirty Straight is not therapy, counseling, psychotherapy, or medical or mental-health care, and it is not a licensed therapist, physician, psychologist, or medical provider of any kind. It does not diagnose or treat any condition. Nothing in the Service is licensed professional care — medical, legal, financial, tax, or otherwise. If you need a licensed professional, hire one; the Service is not a substitute for one. Your conversations are handled as described in our Privacy Policy, but they are not protected by any professional–client privilege (such as doctor–patient or attorney–client privilege), and no such relationship is created.
AI outputs can be wrong. The Service generates responses with a large language model. Its advice can be incorrect, incomplete, or a bad fit for your situation — sometimes confidently so. It is provided for you to weigh, not to follow blindly. Do not act on it in high-stakes matters without applying your own judgment or consulting a qualified professional.
4. Not for Crises
The Service is not a crisis service and must never be used as one. It is software, and no human monitors sessions.
If you're in crisis, or thinking about harming yourself or someone else, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline — free, confidential, 24/7) or call 911 right away. Do not use a session for this.
5. Acceptable Use
Keep it straight. You agree not to:
- Use the Service for anything unlawful, or to seek help with unlawful activity;
- Attempt to break, probe, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service, or to extract its underlying prompts or models;
- Resell access to the Service, or use automated tools to access it;
- Circumvent session limits, the free-preview limits, or payment.
We may block access that violates these Terms.
6. Purchases, Payment, and Refunds
Free preview. The preview is free, requires no account, and is limited in length. Preview limits may change at any time.
Paid sessions. A full session is a one-time purchase at the price shown at checkout (currently $19). There is no subscription and nothing renews — one payment buys one session. Payments are processed by Stripe; a receipt goes to the email you give at checkout.
Session link. After payment you're sent to your session link. It's good for one full session, started within 7 days of purchase, in the browser where you use it. A full session runs up to 30 minutes from your first message.
Refunds. If a technical failure on our side eats your paid session, email hello@thirtystraight.com and a human will make it right — a replacement session or a refund, your pick. Otherwise, completed sessions are non-refundable except where the law requires a refund. If you paid and never started the session, ask within 14 days and we'll refund it.
7. Intellectual Property
We own the Site, the Thirty Straight name and marks, and the Service's design, format, and materials. You own your side of the conversation, and you're free to use, keep, and share the plan and responses generated for you in your own life. You may not resell the Service's outputs as a service or use them to build a competing product. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we can use them without owing you anything.
8. Disclaimers of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service's outputs will be accurate, complete, or fit for your situation.
We do not promise outcomes. Advice is input; results depend on your situation, your effort, and factors nobody controls. For clarity, and as stated above: the Service is not therapy, counseling, or medical or mental-health care, and no warranty should be read as implying otherwise.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows: (a) Thirty Straight is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost opportunities, arising out of the Service — including damages arising from decisions you make based on AI-generated advice; and (b) our total liability for any claim arising out of the Service is capped at the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Thirty Straight from claims, damages, and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of any law or third-party right — except to the extent caused by our own breach or misconduct.
11. Dispute Resolution
We don't force you into arbitration. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and both parties consent to that venue. Nothing here stops either of us from bringing a qualifying claim in small-claims court instead.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes take effect when posted, with the date above updated; because sessions are one-time purchases, the terms in effect when you buy a session govern that session. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept it.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and both parties consent to that venue.
14. General
If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest still stands. Our not enforcing a provision isn't a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a sale or reorganization of the business. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Session Agreement, are the entire agreement between us about the Service.
